Hide and Hair

Here's a picture of the latest project your dad and I are taking on this week. Hopefully, when finished, it will look amazingly like a king size headboard and footboard. Think we can do it?

I have no doubts he can build the bed. I do, however, have some serious doubts as to my upholstering abilities which at this point are a big fat "none." But, I suspect between the two us, we'll get it done.

After that.....it's on to the dresser; it too will have the hide as well. Keep your fingers crossed. :)

Christmas Flood

Well, it is official. 2009 has gone down on record as the wettest year in history or at least for as long as they have been tracking it - 1870's.

Here are a few shots of what the latest 8 inches brought us....after the worst of it had stopped. Guess it was a good thing we weren't planning on going anywhere.

It is hard to tell from the picture but the field across the road looked like a lake....and still does. Our road was aptly named because it totally flooded out. But, nice (bitterly cold) weather should help dry it out over the next few days.

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a Bull Mastiff!!

While your dad and I were out Christmas shopping yesterday we happened upon this rug and knew immediately that Parker and Myrtlee would absolutely LOVE it. Well, true enough, they do. HOWEVER......there is rug fuzz flying all over the house now. It sheds unlike anything we've ever seen. We cannot keep up with it from a cleaning perspective. You open one of the exterior doors and fuzz just flies everywhere.

We decided to just tolerate it until Spring when we can take it up. The babies love it, as you can obviously tell from the picture, and you know...... it is ALL ABOUT THE BABIES!! :)

Myrtlee Howled.........

Your dad finished the "wolf howling at the moon" carving for the upstairs railing panels and it looked great. To make sure we captured all of the details on it, I decided to paint it. Keep in mind when you look at this.............I do not have an artistic bone in my body.

After I finished painting it, I leaned it up against the wall (on the floor) to see how it looked. Myrtlee rounded the corner, howled like a wild Banshee, and almost became a little "Yourapeeing" when she saw it. It was too funny!

Give it a looksee and let me know what you think. We're getting ready to pick out some different scenes for the other panels. We know for sure one has to be a bear and the rest???? well, we're not sure. Any ideas?

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Here are a couple shots of the mirror your dad made. Can you tell where we hung it? :) If not, look at the next pic and see what image it is reflecting.

We needed a hat rack so I started looking on-line. I stumbled onto something like this one but it was way too pricey for me and made from junk wood to boot. Your dad could build one and make it look twice as good. So.....he did.

It's hard to tell from the bad pictures I took but it really does look good on the wall. He always does such a good job and this was no exception. We're thrilled with it.
